Join the PTA and make a difference! Learn what's happening at Jolmes Jr. High School

Holmes Jr. High School PTA is looking forward to a productive year where our children's lives are enriched, our parents are kept informed, and our teachers/staff are supported. Working together, we can enhance the junior high experience for our students, and stay connected in these years of transition. Here is a checklist of things you can do to support Holmes through the PTA.

JOIN THE PTA

Join the Holmes PTA by filling out the blue PTA Membership form in this packet. Your membership dues provide funding for PTA programs at Holmes and for our monthly newsletter. By joining the PTA, you are under no obligation to attend PTA meetings. But, we would love you to come if you are interested! We invite you to the first PTA meeting on at 7:00 p.m. in the Holmes library. Also put these future PTA meeting dates on your calendar:

• 9/23,
• 10/28,
• 12/2,
• 1/27,
• 2/17,
• 3/24 ,
• 4/28, and
• 5/26.

all at 7:00 p.m. in the Holmes library.

These meetings keep the lines of communication open between parents, teachers, and school administrators, and provide valuable information, including:

• Reports from the Principal, Vice Principal, counselors and teachers
• Updates on district or school policy changes
• Discussion of curriculum, discipline, school organization, and other issues
• Decisions regarding school programs and projects to be supported by PTA
• Updates on campus projects, beautification and maintenance
• Reports on student activities and school events

STAY INVOLVED

For information about Holmes and HJH PTA, please read the monthly newsletter and visit the HJH PTA website. Also sign up for PTA and school announcements on the PTA Listserv, the Holmes Daily Bulletin Listserv and other special interest listservs via the HJH PTA website. This is an excellent way to be notified about current happenings at Holmes. (If you signed up last year, you do not need to sign up again.)

VOLUNTEER AT HOLMES

The Holmes community needs your help! Many programs and events held outside the classroom depend on volunteers, and there are opportunities to fit any schedule. Volunteering is a great way to stay involved in your student's education, to keep abreast of happenings at Holmes and to meet some other Holmes parents. Please consider volunteering your time and skills to Holmes - simply fill out and submit the blue volunteer form included in your Holmes registration mailing or download a new on, Holmes PTA Volunteer Form .

PARTICIPATE IN PTA FUNDRAISING EFFORTS

We know that families are asked to give often, even as many are struggling in these difficult economic times. Your PTA depends on monetary contributions to support many of the special programs that help enrich our students. experience at Holmes, including library support, campus beautification, parent education presentations, International Day, staff training, WEB activities and more. There are three ways to financially support these programs: by participating in our fall .Unfundraiser. (watch for details later in the fall); by shopping at retailers who donate proceeds a portion of their proceeds to Holmes (review the enclosed blue sheet on the various eScrip opportunities); and, of course, your PTA appreciates direct, tax-deductible donations.even small contributions combine to make a real difference!
