A Plural Transgresses into a Singular. ACTUAL QUOTES: THEY will be able to do that THEMSELF. (themselves) WE are already working on that project OURSELF. (ourselves) THEY should be able to vote THEIRSELF!!! (themselves) WE don't need to wait until the end of our LIFE. (lives) If that occurs, THEY will all lose their LIFE. (lives) No ONE has lost THEIR (for the proper 'he or she') HOUSES (house) (trying to agree with the 'false' THEIR, when it is a singular subject). I have heard them all-- Why is it we now use a plural subject And end with a singular personal pronoun or object? Is it too cumbersome and laborious To use THEMSELVES or LIVES in our sentences today? Have we come to the point where we just must streamline So much so that we destroy grammatical agreement? The plural is now transgressing into the singular and vice versa!
